Bendel Insurance maintained their unbeaten run with a win in the Federation Cup, semi-final match against Warri Wolves at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

Insurance won 4-2 on penalties after a goalless outcome through regular time, to seal a final berth.

Both sides maintained a rather physical approach to the game as there were just about few chances created, and far in-between.

Yet Bendel Insurance came closest to scoring and created the better openings throughout the game, but neither of the sides really bossed the game nor exerted dominance over the other.

With the game finely poised, Bendel Insurance had a good opportunity to strike a painful punch into the heart of the Wolves, but it was not meant to be.

The missed opportunity had the entire bench, the management crew inclusive, along with legend Julius Aghahowa, who was in the stands, with mouths wide open and hands in the air, shocked by the missed opportunity that would have saved them the nail-biting drama that comes with a penalty shoot-out.

Warri Wolves were to take the first kick of the game, but they lost it, giving the Benin Arsenal an early advantage in the tie-breaker.

The lottery continued until Wolves missed their second through captain Olisema Ekene, who struck his kick against the upright.

The miss would provide Bendel Insurance with an opportunity on a platter, but they didn’t take it.

Warri Wolves then missed again to settle the lottery, and that was how it ended as their goalkeeper took the last kick of the game.

It was saved and the stadium erupted with joy for Insurance who will set up a final against Rangers.
