Bendel Insurance recorded yet another draw in the Nigerian Premier League Championship Playoffs, extending their unbeaten record so far this season to 21 games as they played 1-1 against Enyimba on matchday three of the tournament.

The match-up burst into life when Abubakar Sadiq Abubakar, pairing league top scorer, Emeka Mbaoma up front for Enyimba, put the ball into the net following a nice run of play.

Enyimba continued to carve a number of chances, peppering the Bendel Insurance defence, but were unable to put another beyond the goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, who had a swell time providing answers for each of their questions.

Insurance later grew into the game and would be rewarded accordingly when Divine Nwachukwu leveled things up with eight minutes left of the first half as the first half ended that way.

The Second half started quite well and pretty much end to end, although both sides seemed to tire off as it wore on.

Both managers sought for answers from the bench, Finidi George being the first to make a move brought on Chibuike Nwaiwu and Chijioke Mbaoma on the half hour mark.

Monday Odigie followed suit as he must have read into Finidi’s tactics when he brought on Imade Osarenkhoe to force a winner.

Babatunde Ogungbe later came in for Deputy Echeta as well as Vincent Augustus for Stephen Adodo simultaneously in the 73rd minute.

While Emeka Obioma, the league’s highest goalscorer, was substituted for Chisom Okereke and Chigozie Chikwelu for Imoh Obot, in a double swap, five minutes before the ninety-minute mark.

With two minutes left of additional time, Ebuka Akobundu was brought on for Babatunde Ogungbe due to injury complaint for Insurance.

The match ended at 1-1 after two Enyimba shouts for penalty were turned down by the center referee leaving the Aba Elephants top of of the standings temporarily as at the time of this report, and Bendel Insurance are fourth.
