Former Nigerian forward Baldwin Bazuaye has suggested that the country should brace up for more disappointments in football as nothing has been done to improve the current state of things in the sport.
Bazuaye expressed dissatisfaction at what could be described as the marginalization of players who ply their trades in the Nigerian Premier Football League.
The former Bendel Insurance coach even argued that there are players who could do better than their foreign counterparts, but have not been given the opportunity.
“We should expect more disappointments, we have not gone back to the drawing board,” Buazuaye told FL. “The foreign professionals are not better than the home-based, take NPFL players to more games and competitions.
“There are good players here, but they do not have the opportunities. We should not differentiate the home-based from the foreign professionals.”
“We have the best of the home-based, we need to give them a chance, we have to step on people’s toes to get to where we want, we have the answers, we have to do what is right, we need to take the locally based players to more competitions.”
