Calvin Bassey returned from his two-match suspension and was immediately thrown into action as he started his first Eredivisie game for Ajax.
Bassey was sent off after after 16 minutes of coming on in the Super Cup clash between Ajax and PSV last month in the season’s curtain raiser.
On Sunday, the LB was deployed as CB in Ajax’s league encounter at the Sparta Stadion Het Kasteel against Sparta Rotterdam.
The 22 year-old was on for 90 minutes, completed 101 passes, completed 4 clearances, 1 block and 2 aerial duels.
Calvin Bassey and his teammates walked away with a win and a from the odd goal in the first half off the boots of another summer signing, Steven Bergwijn.
Bergwijn struck from outside the box assisted by Daley Blind, for the former’s goal number 4 in 3 games and it ensures the Champions continue their unbeaten start to the league campaign.
