Bassey on target as Ajax end winless run

Ajax bounced back to winning ways in the Eredivisie with a confidence boosting performance against newly promoted FC Volendam and Calvin Bassey also had a big moment.

Bassey scored his first goal for the Dutch champions to see them pick up a win since the 5-0 victory against Heerenveen.

Playing at the Kras Stadion, Ajax lead 2-0 in the first half with Dusan Tadic’s penalty (17′) and Bassey (39′) giving them a big advantage.

In the second half, the game opened up more and after Ajax scored their third goal through Brian Brobbey (64′), FC Volendam made it a contest goals from Lequincio Zeefuik (74′) and Carel Eiting (86′) cutting the lead down to one.

However, the visitors showed their class eventually and in stoppage time put the final nail on it with Davy Klaassen’s goal (90+6′).
