The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, will face South Korea in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup at the Santiago del Estero Stadium, this Sunday.

After securing their place in the Quarter-final with a 2-0 victory over hosts Argentina, Nigeria will face South Korea, who beat Ecuador 3-2 in the Round of 16.

This will be the third time Nigeria and South Korea will meet at the U-20 level, and the match is scheduled for 6:30 pm Nigerian time.

The Flying Eagles, led by Coach Ladan Bosso, have only lost one game in this tournament, a 2-nil defeat to Brazil in their third group match.

Speaking ahead of the game the captain Daniel Bameyi in a chat with FIFA.com expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome the South Koreans if they display teamwork, determination, and discipline.

He also believes that the team can win the 2023 edition of the U-20 World Cup.

“Yeah. This is football. Everything can happen, and any team is beatable. As my coach would always say, ‘we just have to be disciplined, dedicated, do our job, and concentrate.’ Let’s see how it goes, but I believe in this team. We can do it.

“First of all, there is no small team in the World Cup; Every team in this competition is good.”

“You must respect every team. Then any team in the knockout stage is obviously very good.

“I think the Koreans are a very good team. They have beaten other very good teams. I think they have very good players. We have a lot of respect for them.”
