Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was once again missing in Brighton’s match day squad for Saturday’s English premier league game with visiting Tottenham Hotspur.
In the absence of the Nigerian defender Lewis Dunk, Dan Burn, Adam Webster and Martín Montoya marshaled the Seagull defence and kept a clean sheet on a day they put three past the Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Aaron Connolly scored twice and Neal Maupay for added the other for the Graham Potter tutored side at the American Express Community Stadium as Spurs continued their miserable form.
Courtesy of their victory over Tottenham, Brighton ended a run of eight Premier League home games without a win (D3 L5) and they also equalled their biggest-ever margin of victory in a top-flight game and scored more than once in a Premier League home game for the first time in 16 games, since beating Crystal Palace 3-1 in December 2018.
While Neal Maupay’s opener was their fastest-ever goal in the Premier League at 2 mins 30 secs.
Since joining the Club from Mainz on a free transfer, Balogun has only made eight appearances in the premier league, with there coming as a substitute.
The 31-year-old is yet to get a minute of action in 2019/2020 premier league season.
