Azubuike Okechukwu will leave Yeni Malatyaspor and head back to Istanbul Basaksehir at least for now after his loan spell at the club ended with the final game of the Turkish Super Lig season.

Okechukwu rejoined Yeni in the January transfer window from Sivasspor, where he was on loan but saw less and less game time, failing to hold down a regular place.
The Midfielder, 25, however was unable to help Yeni Malatyaspor avoid the drop, the team were relegated finishing bottom of the standings.
From January until the end of the season, the Malatya club picked up only five points – 1 win in 18 games.
In their final topflight game in 2022, YMS were trounced 5-0 at home by Fenerbahce and Okechukwu was called off the bench in the second half, prior to missing the last three games.
When he does return to Basaksehir the Player would also have to consider his future as his contract runs out next year.
In a recent interview with Brila FM, Okechukwu Azubuike revealed he will consider a move to a more prominent European league to boost his National team chances.
The Midfielder also admitted that staying back in Turkey was motivated by the financial benefit, but is now convinced a move away from East Europe will do his career a lot more good.
In the coming days, Azubuike Okechukwu is also set to join Nigeria’s squad in North America for the preparatory games ahead of June’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Mauritius.
