Taiwo Awoniyi scored a brace to inspire Union Berlin’s 3-2 win against Bochum, Sunday, at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei to secure a Europa League place.
Awoniyi scored in both half, a 25th minute penalty and the match winner in the 88th minute to snatch maximum points.
Union Berlin had required a win and for results elsewhere to go in their favor for them to return to Europe next season.
In the just concluded campaign, Urs Fischer’s side played in the Europa Conference League, but were eliminated in the group stage.
Meanwhile, Taiwo Awoniyi finished the campaign as the team’s top scorer of the league season with 15 goals and 1 Assist – 20 goals in all competitions from 43 appearances.
His compatriot, Anthony Ujah made 3 appearances all season, getting only Thirty-two minutes.
The 31 year-old runs out of his current contract at the club on 30 June.
