Nottingham Forest were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City ground today, Emmanuel Dennis started the encounter and was a threat for the Reds as they took a first-half lead thanks to Brennan Johnson’s close-range effort in the 38 minutes.

But it was Taiwo Awoniyi’s return to the squad after several weeks out with a thigh injury.

Awoniyi was named on the bench in the Premier League game – his last appearance was against Southampton – as Forest chase their first win in six games.

Both teams lost their last two encounters and needed a positive result, and it was Forest that took the lead heading into the break.

After breaking the ice through Johnson’s 38th minute strike, Steve Cooper’s men sat back, but went on a rot, and were guilty of missing chances in the attacking transition.

Wolves had most of the ball possession, 72%, but just couldn’t find the equalizer as Nottingham Forest defended deep and created scoring opportunities on the break.

However with the possession came the belief, and it was rewarded late on as Daniel Podence was at the right place to equalize for Wolves.

Taiwo Awoniyi was a late introduction, making his first appearance in 87 days and playing 10 minutes while Emmanuel Dennis lasted 67 minutes for Forest.
