Awoniyi is Premier League Quality, Onuachu not so Much – Agali

As far as Premier League debuts go, it can be said that, Taiwo Awoniyi had just concluded an appreciable campaign albeit average.

While Awoniyi is basking in the shine of a tremendous four-game goals coring streak which proved vital for saving Nottingham Forest’s Premier League status, same.cannot be said of his Countryman, Paul Onuachu and his debut season at Southampton.

Onuachu, unlike Awoniyi, made a January transfer move and so had little time to adapt and build the chemistry necessary to excel in his role and meet the expectations.

The Saints’ forward played 11 times from a possible 18, and his 404 minutes failed to make a goal contribution; a contrast from Awoniyi’s 10goals and 1 assist in 27 matches.

Both Players are built differently, in style and tenacity, so says former Super Eagles and Wolfsburg Forward, Victor Agali.

In his comparison, Agali believes Awoniyi will always rate highly and over Onuachu, because the former is physical, strong and tenacious; the abilities atypical of a Premier League striker.

“The difference between both Players is obvious,” Agali argued on Brila FM’s breakfast show”No Holds Barred”.

“Awoniyi is aggressive, very physical and is fast. These things make a difference in a league like the EPL.

“He can play anywhere upfront, but Onuachu can only serve you best as a Box striker.”
