Former Arsenal forward, Kanu Nwankwo has revealed to footballlive.ng how he took both Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali to Arsenal for tryouts and former Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger picked only one; he dropped Samuel Chukwueze.
Ahead of Nigeria’s semi-final match against Algeria at the AFCON 2019, where Chukwueze has lite up the stage for the Eagles, Kanu fondly called said:
“After the 2015 U17 World Cup in Chile, I took Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali to Arsenal for trial and Arsenal picked Nwakali but dropped Chukwueze.
“Little did Arsenal know that the abandoned Chukwueze would light up the world this soon. Villarreal have now placed a price tag of over 60 million Euros on him.
“Now, Nwakali is on loan somewhere, playing for their B team, while Chukwueze plays in La Liga and is currently at AFCON, and might even win it.
“Well, that is football for you, the table can still turn tomorrow and Nwakali could still reach the very peak before Chukwueze. I wish both of them a blissful career ahead! Truly, God is the King.”
