Arsenal Midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has revealed that he wants former academy teammate, Folarin Balogun to fully pledge his allegiance to England over Nigeria and USA.

Balogun has been a revelation since moving to Ligue 1 outfit Reims on loan from Arsenal, contributing 21 goals in 29 appearances.

His form has also seen Nigeria, USA and England go head to head for his services at international level.

Speaking to the media during this international window, Smith Rowe revealed that he would love him to play for England but also acknowledges he should be allowed to choose his own path.

“Of course [I would prefer he chooses England], but it’s his decision, that’s down to him to do what he wants to do,” the Arsenal man offered.

“It would be nice if he could be with us in the summer but as I said, that’s down to him and he’s got to do what’s best for him.”

The United States are currently leading the chase as Folarin Balogun, who was recently left out by Gareth Southgate.

He made an IG post of himself in the US MNT camp during a visit, and captioned it ‘In life, go where [you’re] appreciated.’
