Arsenal were jolted back to reality as the Gunners suffered a humbling 3-0 defeat at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace on Monday.
Palace came into the fixture with a fine run of form of six games without a defeat in all competitions, including a goalless draw against Manchester City.
The hosts took a 2-0 lead in the first half, Jesn- Philippe Mateta opened scoring in the 16th minute before Ghana’s Jordan Ayew doubled the advantage in the 24th minute.
Patrick Vieira’s last defeat in the Premier League came at the hands of London rivals Chelsea back in February and looked like they’d since learned a thing or two about winning.
After the restart, though Arsenal had seen the better ball possession and were on the front foot, it was Palace who’d once again make the most of their chance.
A penalty was won and the Center Referee Paul Tierney duly awarded the kick.
Ivory Coast’s Wilfried Zaha stepped up and converted for his 10th goal in 25 appearances this season.
The Ivorian is one goal short of his best tally in the PL which he managed last season in 30 appearances.
Meanwhile, the defeat is a major set back for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s hope of his side cracking the top four spot.
Albeit, the Gunners still have a game in hand, they face North London rivals Tottenham, who have themselves been in good form.
Antonio Conte’s side have scored 10 goals in their last three games, conceding just twice and are currently fourth in the standings.
The game rescheduled game against Arsenal has been decided and will hold May 12.
Reports in Italy have emerged that Serie A champions Inter Milan are interested in KRC Genk's Nigerian forward, Paul Onuachu.
