Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme has sent a reminder to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr stating that he made a mistake not extending a call-up to him ahead of the dead rubber 2019 Africa Cup of Nations fixture against Seychelles and the friendly game with the Pharaohs of Egypt later this month in Asaba.
The Franco-German tactician extended calls to Al Nassr forward and stand in Captain Ahmed Musa, Victor Osimhen, Odion Ighalo, Moses Simon, Henry Onyekuru, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Kalu and newcomer Paul Onuachu who plays for Midtjyland in Denmark.
The former Hapoel Be’er Sheva forward sent the message through his performance on Monday night in the Turkish Super Lig scoring a brace for Trabzonspor in their 2 – 2 away draw away to Kasimpasa.
Nwakaeme put the visitors in front in the 30th minute and scored his second 15 minutes later in the 45th minute but the visitors failed to put the game to bed as the home team in the 63rd minute pulled one back through Stipe Perica and completed the comeback in the 90th minute with a well-taken penalty from Trezeguet.
Nwakaeme has been invited to the national team on several occasions but has failed to break into the team setup only featuring once.
