Odion Ighalo missed out on winning a trophy over the weekend as Japanese giants Urawa Red Diamonds were crowned AFC Champions League winners in an exciting match at the Saitama Stadium 2002, beating Al-Hilal 2-1 on aggregate.

It would be Ighalo’s second final loss of the season, after Al-Hilal lost in the FIFA Club World Cup final against Real Madrid earlier this year.

A brief lack of focus from Carrillo resulted in an unfortunate own goal, sparking wild cheers from the home fans.

Despite a valiant effort from Al-Hilal, the Urawa Red Diamonds’ defence held strong and denied them an equalizer.

Al-Hilal’s hopes of winning the AFC Champions League did not come to fruition, yet they still have the chance to make the most of their season when they play for the King’s Cup.

On May 12, they’ll go head-to-head with Al Wehda at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, presenting a great opportunity for Ighalo and his teammates to end the season in a triumphant manner.
