An assist for Ejuke, but Hertha Berlin stumble

Hertha Berlin were denied the chance of their second win this Bundesliga season as Mainz snatched a late equalizer, after Lucas Tousart’s 30th minute opener from a Chidera Ejuke assist.

Berlin have had a poor start to the season, but shown flashes the next game could see them turn the corner as was the case on Friday night.

They got off to the perfect start at the Mewa Arena, taking the lead on the half hour mark and Ejuke picked up his second assist of the season.

Ejuke also got an assist last weekend in the game against Bayer Leverkusen, his first goal contribution this season for the side.

The 24 year-old was one of the better players on the night for the visitors, besides the goalscorer Tousart.

He played only Eighty-three minutes, but got 2 shots, completed 5 dribbles, 43 touches and 28 passes.

However, he also lost the ball 6 times and had very little impact on the defensive phase.

Hertha Berlin have kept only one clean sheet this season and yet again, though they had led deep into stoppage time, Mainz snatched a late leveler (90+4′) through Anthony Caci.

Friday’s result leaves Sandro Schwarz’s side 12th on the table, with six points from seven matches.
