Former Olympic Eagles coach, Imama Amapakabo has suggested that the biggest problem with age grade teams in the Nigeria is the neglect from the Nigeria Football Federation.

Amapakabo explained that the administrators do not show enough support to Age grade teams as they are not the Super Eagles.

‘The other national teams do not enjoy as much privilege as the Super Eagles does in the country, especially in terms of moral and monetary support,’ the Coach said.

In addition to his role with the Olympic team, Amapakabo was also named the Super Eagles B coach and admits one of the reasons why the Eagles failed to qualify for the Tokyo Games, was because the NFF never cared if they did.

He said if more seriousness had been put into the team, the players themselves would have put more effort to making it happen.

Amapakabo further explained that everyone is more about the result and not the process that goes into making the results a possibility.

In a chat with FL, the Coach further explained his assertions by making an instance of one of the failures of the past dream teams.

‘Majority of the players invited to camp were not able to resume on time because they had other needless engagements.’
