Following the 1-0 defeat in the AFCON 2019 final to Algeria, Fatou Cisse, son of Senegal Head Coach Aliou Cisse sent emotional letter to his dad.

Fatou, who is one of Aliou’s children appreciated him for putting the nation’s football on the part of greatness.

The letter read:

All those who rejected you, were wrong my dad .I’m not going to talk to you about football tactics or even the beautiful game strategies because everyone has his or her domain, but I’m going to tell you about this man, this great gentleman whom with pride I call MY Dad: Aliou Cissé

All those who rejected your appointment (as Senegal coach) were wrong my dad. You’ve been criticized, insulted, denigrated, but what I admire most about you is the strength you’ve always had- Never to give up.

Thank you for teaching us to always work in silence and let success take over the noise. Some will ask which success?

You managed to take this team in quarter-final of the CAN 2017 and finally you have guided them in final of the CAN after 17 years. The facts are there for all to see. So, yes, unfortunately the trophy will not land in Dakar but you managed to answer all those people who said that ” Aliou Cissé as the head of this team Senegal will go nowhere”:All because of your work, your seriousness and your respect.

You are certainly not the best coach in their eyes but more hardworking than anyone else.

Allah is so great and always rewards the good heart. Thank you for never doubting the talent of people and for always respecting the opinion of others.

So Bravo Papa I am more than proud of you, proud of your exemplary career, proud of your simplicity and especially proud of this team you have built.
