Goalkeeper and Captain of relegated NPFL side Mustapha Aliko has stated that his side will not fail Nigerians on the continental scene after been drawn alongside Santoba Conakry of Guinea despite been sent down to the second tier of Nigeria’s league club football where they will campaign in the Nigeria National League.
Aliko speaking in a chat with www.brila.net dispel talks of Tornadoes playing in the lower league as a worrisome factor that will affect the team’s competitive edge on the continent and said Tornadoes will rise above that. He also added that playing on the continent will serve the players of the team the right window of opportunity to sell themselves on a larger platform.
“The continental issue we don’t have enough time to prepare but we will do our best possible to make sure we fly Nigeria’s flag well. We have young boys who are ready to go and want to make names for themselves, we will surprise people. The league you play doesn’t matter if you’re playing on the continent whether playing the NPFL or lower league.”
