Former Nigeria midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju said Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Algeria was a night where the Eagles played against a side that was ‘tactically sound’.

Adepoju told footballlive.ng that the Eagles were unlucky to come against a team that was on their A game and had very few weaknesses that could be exploited.

“It was a game of football and they (Eagles) tried their best. The Algerians were better tactically, and they played us out of the park; they covered all the spaces tactically, that we couldn’t make them suffered.

“They got their winning goal from a free kick and with virtually the last kick of the game. It must have been really painful, but that’s football for us.

“The players should be hold their heads high, we know they gave their best, even if it wasn’t enough. There is always a next game, it’s painful but football is just like that, you win some and lose some,” Adepoju concluded.
