Akwa United sets to claim 3 points against Wikki in Uyo


League leaders Akwa united will aim to continue their impressive home form in the NPFL when the confront Wikki Tourists of Bauchi at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.

The encounter is one of Matchday 7 fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League  scheduled for this weekend.

The Promise Keepers have won four, drawn one and lost one in the opening six matches of the season and will be expecting to improve its unbeaten home run to 23 matches.

The CAF Confederation Cup campaigners have not lost to Wikki Tourists and have not also conceded a goal against the northern team at the Nest of Champions.

Coach Abdu Maikaba’s team have scored ten goals this season with 7 of those goals scored at the Nest of Champions, where they have recorded three straight victories.

The Uyo based side will remain top of the log with victory over Wikki Tourists on Sunday.

Captain of the team Otobong Effiong has said  that the players are ready to put in their all to ensure victory is secured on Sunday.

“We are playing well at the moment and the results have been very good. We cannot afford to come down from the top, so we are ready to give our 100% in all matches.

” Our target is to win as many matches as we can since the league is a marathon, and we have this belief that we can do it”. He said
