Akwa United are still maintaining their lead on the log of Nigeria Professional Football League Group B after a 3-0 defeat at Plateau United in matchday 16 on Sunday.
The Rafael Everton’s side went into the game levelled on points with second placed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri who also suffered a 5-1 defeat away to Nasarawa United in Lafia on the same day.
Plaetau United who are enduring a torrid season opened the scoring through the Jesse Akila in the 10th minutes of the game.
Former Rivers United striker Bernard Ovoke added the second in the second half with two minutes to an hour mark, before Amos Gyang made three goals and three points after 78th minutes .
Akwa United are still in the first position with 28 points while El Kanemi Warriors also remain on same points.
Third place FC Ifeayin Ubah who also crashed at Yobe Desert Stars and maintained their 27 points after 16 matches.
