Former Rangers International Club manager, Lawrence Akpokona has tasked Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United and Plateau United to stay focused ahead of their respective second-leg playoff ties.

Both teams go into the second leg with comfortable first-leg wins at home. Rivers United beat Al Nassr 5-0 while Plateau United recorded a 4-1 victory over Al Akhdar 4-1.

The Nigerian teams will both hope to complete the job of securing their grou stage tickets, when they play the return legs of the playoffs this Wednesday in Libya.

Speaking with FL, Lawrence Akpokona expressed confidence in the Nigerian teams on the back of their recent success and dismisses any chance of the Libyan clubs overturning the massive deficits.

‘Libyan clubs have never been a worry for Nigerian teams; from time past, and I am confident that Rivers United can win away from home. No matter the level of hostility posed by the North Africans.’
