Kevin Akpoguma was a second half substitute in Hoffenheim’s 3-2 victory against Bochum at the weekend.
Akpoguma played the second 45 minutes, coming off the bench from the restart with the scoreline tied at 2-2.
His introduction brought some stability to the team’s defensive belt and the 27 year-old quickly made his impact felt.
Deployed in the Left side of a three-man central defence, Akpoguma produced some decent numbers, including 2 tackles and 2 clearances – he also got booked.
The defensive stability inspired Hoffenheim push for a winner in the second half and could have put the game to bed early, but Andrej Kramarić missed from the spot.
However, that miss was redeemed by Munas Dabbur who delivered a 88th minute winner.
A good bounce back victory for the Andre Breitenreiter’s men after the opening day defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach.
