Super Eagles Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was named the man of the match as he helped Kaizer Chiefs beat Baroka 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Akpeyi started from the bench, but took the place of injured Itumeleng Khune in the 26th minute, a situation which proved to be a blessing in disguise.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist was called into action almost immediately after coming on, and the former Warri Wolves shot stopper did not disappoint saving superbly Collins Makgaka’s strong header.
Lebogang Manyama scored the only goal of the game in the 39th minute, capitalizing on a spilled Goalkeeper effort and put the ball in the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
Two quick fire saves in the 64th and 65th minute by Akpeyi kept Kaizer Chiefs’ winning hope alive, the First choice Super Eagles Goalkeeper also had more saves to ensure Chiefs’ will garner all maximum points available.
