Calvin Bassey is determined to take his chance coming off the bench and Sunday was one of such opportunity.

Bassey was introduced straight from the restart after Ajax trailed in the first-half, 1-0, at home against RKC Waalwijk.

The defender put in the work on both ends of the pitch, but it was his fellow substitute Brian Brobbey who leveled for John Heitinga’s men, cancelling out Mats Seuntjens’ opening goal in the 17th minute.

Ajax continued from there and this time Bassey connected with Jurrien Timber in the 78th minute to put the hosts ahead.

In the 81st minute, Mohammed Kudus wrapped up the scoring and bagged the points for Ajax to secure their third consecutive league win under the new head Coach.

The Eredivisie champions are now third in the standings and just three points behind leaders Feyenoord.

On Thursday, February 16, Heitinga will roll out with his stars, on their return to European football, Ajax will host high flying German Bundesliga side, Union Berlin in the Europa League.
