Ajax abysmal League Title defence continues

Ajax haven’t been playing like Champions and they don’t look like they will defend the Eredivisie title, as their form remains consistently underwhelming this season.

On Sunday, Ajax forced league leaders Feyenoord to a draw at De Kuip, and have now gone six straight games without a win – they’ve picked only five points.

Alfred Schreuder’s side were on the back foot from the 34th minute after they went behind to an Igor Paixao goal.

It wasn’t until the 71st minute before Ajax found the answer to the deficit. Davy Klaassen scored his 5th goal of the league campaign to level up the score line and eventually earn his side a point.

Meanwhile, Calvin Bassey was named in the starting XI, playing out from the back as a LB and he was on for the duration of the game.

Bassey was impressive on the day and put in a good shift defending and momentarily joining the attack up front.

He had 63 touches on the ball and made 4 tackles, 3 clearances, 1 block, 1 aerial duel, but also lost possession 4 times in 90 minutes.

Next up for Ajax in the League is a home game against Volendam in a match week 18 fixture.
