Torino have been knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Fiorentina in a 2-1 quarter-final win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Luka Jovic’s header in the 64th minute and a rather fortunate Jonathan Ikone (89′) steered their side to victory.

The visitors pulled one back in the second minute of stoppage time through Yann Karamoh, but it was not enough and it saw an end to another quest for a silverware for Il Toro, who last won a domestic Cup in 1993.

It was also a night of mixed feelings for Torino RB Ola Aina, who was a second half substitute in the encounter.

Aina was brought on just after the hour mark for his second game since his return from injury. The versatile defender was deployed as both a RB and LWB at some point, but he visibly lacked the stamina.

The 26 year-old will likely return to action this weekend when Torino welcome Udinese to Olympic Grande Torino Stadium on Sunday.
