Former Super Eagles midfielder, Duke Udi has suggested that Ahmed Musa’s generosity with National teams is rather an element of insult, as it is not a thing to be done, even in advanced climes.
This is coming in the wake of the Super Eagles captain’s ₦3million cash gift to the National U17 Women’s team, who won bronze at the World Cup in India.
Ahmed Musa, also gave ₦1million to the Olympic Eagles, a fulfillment to the promise he made to the team ahead of their Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania.
Duke Udi has however, opined that he feels that such would not have been the case if the government had made everything so good, that nobody would need the money.
He further suggested that Ahmed Musa needs not announce himself as the benefactor as it defeats the purpose of wanting to really “help” the teams.
The former Sunshine Stars boss said he is in no way implying that what the Nigerian star has been doing for people is wrong, but, that it feels more as an insult to the recipients.
He further explained that the government has not done enough to make everyone less needy, and Ahmed Musa’s benevolence comes based on that fact.
Duke Udi also said things like that can only happen in Africa and especially Nigeria where people are more needy, and it would not even be encouraged in Europe.
