Agony! Long term Injury scare for Al Ittihad’s Austin Amutu

Nigerian forward Austin Amutu suffered a major injury during Al Ittihad Alexandria’s Egypt PL match on Monday night.

Amutu was substituted in the 39th minute in the league game away at Smouha.

The 29 year-old was in visible pain and distraught as he received medical attention on the sideline.

His night came to an end early as he was then subbed of for Ibrahim Hassan, and the team still went on and got three points in style.

After a goalless first half, Al Ittihad took the lead and it was their Angolan star Agostinho Mabululu who came up with the goods.

Mabululu continued his fine form with goals in back to back games, including the match winner against Pharco last week.

His strike in the 79th minute opened up the hosts and in the second minute of stoppage time, Al Ittihad put a seal on it.

Substitute, Ibrahim Hassan’s strike found the back of the net to hand his side maximum points, a deserved win.

Meanwhile, Smouha featured Sodiq Ougla, who started and played all 90 minutes. His Country man, Abubakar Liday, on the other hand was a second half substitute.

Monday’s result moved Al Ittihad to sixth and within 2 points of fourth placed Pyramids in the standings.
