Former Nigeria International, Friday Ekpo has warned that a further slip up could hurt the Super Eagles’ chances of reaching the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

He said this on the back of the Super Eagles’ rather underwhelming victory over Guinea-Bissau, where they picked up maximum points to return to the top of the group.

“They did their best in getting a goal which was through a penalty. I think they should have done better, a 1-0 victory is like they were better but still struggled to get a victory. We have a lot to do and a lot to learn but victory is victory and it has taken us to the top of the ladder.

“We should guard against what happened at home here and play not to lose or draw again. because when the others get to win their games, then they will be on top of us.”

The Super Eagles will be hoping for a win when they face Sierra Leone on June 12.

Another three points seals qualification for the three-time AFCON champions.
