Nigeria vs Seychelles : Afcon qualifier a learning curve – Georges Bibi

Chief Executive Officer/General Secretary of the Seychelles Football Federation, Georges Bibi has looked back at the campaign of the country during the qualifiers ahead of tomorrow’s dead rubber AFCON qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, terming it as an opportunity for them to fight among the elites on the continent.

Despite not having anything to play for beyond pride, the Pirates of Seychelles flew into Abuja yesterday for tommorow’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash with the Super Eagles.

The pirates were beaten 3-0 in the first leg against the Eagles at the Stade Linite in September last year, with Musa, Awaziem and Ighalo grabbing the goals for Nigeria.

Speaking with Brila, Bibi also added that the experience they have gained during the qualifiers will help them to improve the level and quality of football in the country.

“It has offered us an opportunity for us to fight among the elites, an opportunity for us to pick lessons, for us to find out how we can improve the level as well as quality of football in the Seychelles”. he stated.

Super Eagles emerged Group E leaders on 10 points and a ticket to the finals. South Africa’s Bafana Bafana who are second behind Eagles are having nine points with Libya third on seven points. Seychelles’ Pirates are out of reckoning on just a point.
