Egypt captain Mohamed Salah admits the competition in the AFCON and the possibility of winning it has become even tougher now.

Salah proved the match winner for his side in the crunch game against Guinea Bissau, where two controversial VAR decisions served against the minnows.

However, the 28 year-old winger praised the doggedness of the opposition side and maintains that Egypt needs to build differently to stay competitive at this tournament and in future ones.
‘The African Cup is a lot more competitive now, because everybody is playing well and there teams who have lots of players in Europe.
‘I say it and I know some people don’t like it but we need to change our mentality. We need to build a team with players who are around and available for a long period so we can make the job easier on players and teammates as well as the Coach.’
