Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia striker, Ahmed Musa has assured Nigerian fans that he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles will do everything to pick victories in their upcoming matches against Seychelles and Egypt.
Casting his thoughts ahead of Friday’s final qualifier for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against Seychelles and international friendly with Egypt on Tuesday, both at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Musa says the Eagles are thinking of double celebrations for themselves and their supporters.
Footballlive.ng reports further that the former Kano Pillars, VV Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England star, who is set to captain the Eagles again, wants to lead by example.
Musa has served as Eagles’ stand in captain for six straight matches after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as regular skipper, John Mikel Obi keeps taking time out to regain full fitness, but the attacker says he is not in any way under pressure to impress.
On the contrary, Musa, who is Nigeria’s top scorer ever at the World Cup, following braces against Argentina at Brazil 2014 and Iceland at Russia 2018, says he is again ready to carry the Eagles’ weight.
Musa retorted: “Yes, we have qualified already, but there is something called pride.
“We need to be in the mood for the match against Egypt, and again take this as part of the preparation for the Cup of Nations.
“The Cup of Nations is less than three months away so our preparation has already started. The bigger picture is the thing.”
