Aliou Cissé works with a foreign assistant coach, Frenchman Régis Bogaert, one of very few instances in Africa where such a composition exists, but together they’ve made history for Senegal’s MNT.

Cisse, who was the former Teranga Lions captain led Senegal to their first African title and Mutiu Adepoju argues the uniqueness of that technical crew has proved quite an effective model.

Adepoju told FL, this is a format the NFF can adopt, rather than the calls to outrightly end the appointment of foreign coaches for the Super Eagles.

“I won’t say it’s very alarming because I don’t want to talk about the local coach or foreign coach debate. Senegal have been with their local coach for so many years and they have really had patience with him and they have built for so many years.

“If we try to have similar plans we can get to that level to.”
