Adeleye fancies Super Eagles chance as Pressure mounts on Okoye, Uzoho

Adebayo Adeleye’s debut call up to the Super Eagles couldn’t have come at a better time for the 22 year-old and he welcomes the challenge of fighting for places in the team.

Francis Uzoho will deputize in the absence of first choice Maduka Okoye, but the goalkeeping position in the Eagles is still a contention.
Nigeria’s ouster from the last Africa Cup of Nations and the failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup have been largely blamed on goalkeeping errors; Okoye and Uzoho respectively were between the sticks.
“I’m very happy and excited. It’s a good feeling and I’m happy to be here with the team,” said the Goalkeeper.
“There’s no pressure because everybody is here to just give their best to the Country. I spoke a bit with the Trainers, Yesterday was my first session with the entire team.”
Adeleye who himself has been around for a while insists he feels no pressure competing for a shirt, and described his call up as a dream come true.
“It has been a long journey for me. I was in the U17 in 2013, but I didn’t qualify for the nations Cup and I moved to Israel, but I’ve been playing and working hard.
“I’m glad to be here now and it is a dream come true in my career to represent Nigeria.
“About the competition in the team, I welcome the opportunity, so let’s see how it goes.”
