Henry Onyekuru missed Adana Demirspor’s Super Lig match on Friday night as the Winger continues his recuperation from an injury sustained in his last game.
Onyekuru was substituted in the first half (41′) of the Super Lig clash against Ankaragucu and his replacement, Yusuf Sari inspired their 3-1 victory on the day.
However, against Giresunspor on Friday, Sari was shown a late red card for a second booking with the scoreline tied at 1-1.
Vincenzo Montella and his men welcomed Giresunspor to the Yeni Adana Stadyumu, but it was the visitors who got off the mark first.
Inside the opening thirteen minute of the encounter, Giresunspor took the lead through, Riad Bajic from the penalty spot. But five minute later they were reduced to 10 men following a red card to Alexis Perez.
Adana could not make their numerical advantage count until the final six minutes of the game when Badou Ndiaye found the back of the net in the 84th minute.
However, the drama wasn’t done yet and the Referee would dish out another sending off, this time to an Adana player.
Yusuf Sari was given his marching orders after a second booking in the tenth minute of stoppage time.
Despite Onyekuru’s absence, Montella still had no place in the team for David Babajide, who was left on the bench for the duration of the encounter.
Babajide has made 17 appearances, but managed just 827 minutes in total and has scored three goals.
Meanwhile, although they are still holding on to the third place, Adana Demirspor could slip down after Basaksehir and Besiktas play their games in hand.
