Serie A giants AC Milan have appointed Stefano Pioli as their new Manager 17 hours after they sacked Marco Giampaolo.
Giampaolo had been in charge of Rossoneri for only three and a half months, however the team had struggled in the early weeks of the Serie A season.
Milan are currently 13th in the table; three points above the relegation zone, and have secured just three wins in their first seven games.
Giampaolo, left Sampdoria to replace Club legend Gennaro Gattuso who vacated the position back in June.
Milan recovered from three consecutive defeats to Inter Milan , Fiorentina and Torino beat Genoa 2-1 on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to save his job.
“The club is grateful to Marco for the work carried out and wishes him all the best to come in his professional career,” said AC Milan in a statement.
On Wednesday, the club announced the appointment of the 53 year-old Pioli on a two-year agreement.
