Aaron Samuel Leads Non-Eagles’ Scoring Rain

Date:

Beitar Jerusalem of Israel striker, Aaron Samuel Olanere led the way for the array of Nigerian players not in the current dispensation of the Super Eagles who were on song with goals at the weekend.

Samuel led the way when he netted on his league debut for his new club on Saturday, but could not stop them from losing 5-1 to Bnei Yehuda.

Samuel hit a wonder goal with a left-footed strike from outside the box, as he marked his maiden out in style for Beitar Jerusalem.

Also on song among ‘unheralded’ Nigerian players last weekend were a handful of lads in the lower divisions across England.

In League One, Accrington Stanley got a point against Portsmouth at Wham Stadium Lancashire with Rotherham United loanee Michael Ihiekwe netting the equalizer for the home team.

Ihiekwe powered a header past MacGillivray to make it 1-1 in the 64th minute, his first goal for the club.
Elsewhere, Blackpool were beaten 3-2 at Fleetwood Town, Nathan Delfouneso notched a goal and assist for the Seasiders.

Jordan Thompson pulled one back for Blackpool in the 34th minute assisted by Delfouneso, before the former Aston Villa wonderkid found the far corner to make it 3-2 after 59 minutes.

Freddie Ladapo’s fifth goal in three games helped Plymouth Argyle to an impressive 4-1 away win over Ike Ugbo’s Scunthorpe United.

The former Crystal Palace man’s shot took a slight deflection and went into the bottom right corner in the 13th minute.

A division lower, Jabo Ibehre’s 80th minute goal secured three points for Cambridge United in a 1-0 win against Macclesfield Town.

In Portugal, SC Farense’s Christian Irobiso netted the winner after 76 minutes in his side’s 1-0 victory over CD Cova Piedade.

In Croatia, Iyayi Believe Atiemwen has now netted in three successive games for Gorica, his latest goal coming after 43 minutes in their impressive 3-1 road win against Inter Zaprešić at Stadion šRC Zaprešić.

The performance of the day goes to Eze Vincent Okeuhie for netting a brace for Vojvodina FK as they claimed a 2-0 win vs Dinamo Vranje on game week 13 in the Serbia Super Liga.

Okeuhie put the ball in the net in the 34th minute before doubling the lead with a header in the 45th minute.
