Officials of the Nigeria U17 team have informed footballlive.ng that a total of 78 players have been listed for the final phase of screening after the Golden Eaglets training camp was thrown open.
Coach Manu Garba invited 52 players made up of the bulk of the players who featured at this year’s U17 AFCON in Tanzania.
The open screening at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja this past week has produced another 26 players, who will now jostle for a place in the final world cup squad.
The Eaglets, who finished fourth at Tanzania 2019, have been drawn against Ecuador, Australia and Hungary in the group stages which starts on October 26.
Nigeria have won the World Cup a record five times – 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013 and 2015.
