Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to score the equalizer against Zimbabwe in Nigeria’s second FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match.

Nigeria had gone behind in the first half from Walter Musona’s long range strike in the 25th minute, which left the goalkeeper Francis Uzoho helpless.

It was a game of very few chances, both teams only managed 3 shots on goal – Zimbabwe scored from their only shot which came in the first half.

However, after the break, Jose Peseiro made three changes bringing on Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho and Bruno Onyemeachi.

The move proved important and Iheanacho found himself at the end of a Moses Simon pass to level the score.

Eventually, the game ended with both teams sharing the spoils, and Nigeria have now picked only two points from as many games in the qualifiers.
