Zimbabwe are ahead in the World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria at the Huye Stadium in Butare, Rwanda.

Walter Musona (26′) struck a long range free kick which floated over the wall and past Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho to break the deadlock in a game where very little chances have been created.

The hosts then controlled possession in their own half, knocking the ball around and keeping it from the Super Eagles.

A sizable crowd of Zimbabwean fans were in the 10,000 capacity stadium to cheer their team on and they’ve not been disappointed thus far.

In the dying minutes of the first half, Calvin Bassey was shown a yellow card as the teams saw out the two minutes additional time with a subdued play.

Sunday’s game is the second round of matches by the both sides, and Baltemar Brito’s men will go top of Group C ahead of South Africa and Lesotho with Nigeria now in fourth position.
