Tanzania’s U-20 women’s national team, the Twiga Stars, have secured their spot in the third round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The East African side progressed to the next round after their 12-0 victory against Djibouti over two legs.

In the first-leg second round tie, Tanzania triumphed 5-0 and secured a dominant 7-0 victory in the second leg against their Djibouti.

Next for Twiga Stars is a tough contest against Nigeria’s Falconets, and the fixtures are scheduled between November 17 and 19.

The Falconets have a strong history in this competition, having qualified for every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and finishing as runners-up twice; in 2010 and 2014, narrowly losing to Germany on both occasions.

Four teams will represent Africa at next year’s World Cup which will be hosted by Colombia.
