2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria needs Important Win Against Sao Tome – Dessers


Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers has analyzed the team’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and believes victory against Sao Tome and Principe on Monday, will put Nigeria firmly on the path of reaching the Tournament in Ivory Coast next year.

Nigeria picked up three points in the opening group game against Sierra Leone in Abuja, Thursday.
However, Guinea Bissau top group A on goals difference after a comfortable 5-1 come from behind win against Sao Tome and Principe.
The three-time African Champions follow closely in second and have the chance of going top with a big win and given result elsewhere goes well.
Speaking on how important a victory in Agadir against the Island nation is, Dessers told NFF TV the team needs to keep their winning momentum.
‘We have started well and we want to continue that way, because there’s five more games to go.
‘So, Monday will be an important game, if you can get a win there then it’s a really good start.’
