Women’s Africa Cup of Nations debutants Burundi will battle against Botswana, South Africa and Nigeria in group C a test head Coach Gustave Niyonkuru says he welcomes.

Burundi, on paper, are the weakest team in the group but the Mares have a fighting chance of also reaching the quarter final in their first outing of the AWCON.
They open their campaign against Botswana before facing South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the second group match.
If Niyonkuru’s team hold their own and pick points from those games,  the final group game against Nigeria – July 10 – could become crucial.
However, the former Burundi U20 Men’s team coach says he wants all the smoke when his team battles Nigeria.
“Facing Nigeria who have won 11 titles will be a good experience for my players. We are going to prepare well for the tournament,” the coach said.
The 12th edition of the competition will hold in Morocco between 2nd June – July 3rd.
