Former England International John Fashanu has conceded that Midfielder Joe Aribo will be crucial when Nigeria go up against Lesotho in their 2021 AFCON qualifying match.
Aribo, 22, made his competitive debut for the Super Eagles in the 2-1 victory against Benin at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The 57-year old Fashanu, who has been keeping tabs on Aribo stressed the former Charlton Athletic midfielder’s importance in today’s match.
“Aribo is going to be a very important player for Nigeria in the game against Lesotho,” Fashanu told www.brila.net.
“He is going to be one of the key players, but remember, we know he’s been doing very well and the opposition will be watching him very carefully because he is our star.
“And I also agree with the coach of Lesotho that once you take him out with Osimhen, the Eagles team may struggle. He is the coach and he knows what he is doing.”
Aribo who was on from start to finish against the Squirrels, will hope to put in an impressive display against Thabo Senong’s men today.
