17 year-old Linda Caicedo netted in the 9th minute of the encounter between Colombia and Nigeria in the invitational tournament on Saturday.

Caicedo’s goal was enough to decide the tie as Las Chicas handed the Super Falcons their second defeat in the four-nation tournament, Revelation Cup.

The Falcons had previously lost 1-0 to host, Mexico, this recent defeat stretches the team losing streak to seven games, an unwanted record for head Coach Randy Waldrum.

Although Waldrum had claimed the results weren’t necessarily a reflection of the progress his team was making and also while acknowledging the superiority of the oppositions, Nigeria is preparing for the World Cup.

On Tuesday, Nigeria will face Costa Rica, who held Colombia 1-1, in their final game of the competition.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament is due for July 20, in Australia and New Zealand.
