Signs of expectations of a competitive Super Eagles camp in France have continued to come as the invited players have sharpened themselves ahead of the camping and friendly against Corsica.
In Portugal, Oghenekaro Etebor was the star man for his team CD Feirense in their 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese Liga.
Etebor ran the midfield of Sporting Lisbon ragged with good turn of pace, smart dribbles and tackles, which helped him to break up attacks and set his team on their way to goal.
He won three free kicks for his team as Sporting Lisbon struggled to keep him at bay but his most telling contribution came in the 69th minutes when he dribbled past two Sporting Lisbon defenders around the box, leaving the third defender to bring him down for a penalty, teammate Tiago Silva grabbed his brace by carefully tucking home the resultant penalty.
Victory for CD Feirense ensured they remain in the hunt for a Europa league spot with just three points separating them from sixth placed Maritimo who are occupying the last Europa League qualification spot.
Also in Austria, Super Eagles invitee, Kayode Olarenwaju, scored a brace in Austria Wien’s 3-0 win over SV Ried in an Austrian Bundesliga encounter on Saturday.
The Nigeria international continued in his superb form with two strikes against Christian Benbennek’s men
In a perfect first half display by Thorsten Fink’s men, it took Olarenwaju a space of five minutes to score both goals which came in the 16th and 21st minutes.
Tarkan Serbest wrapped up the victory with a strike of his just after the half-hour mark.
The goals marked the 24-year-old striker’s 16th of the season in 31 Austrian league encounters. Which has seen him moved level with Sturm Graz’s Deni Alar at the top of the goal scorer’s chart.
And he has bagged 23 efforts in all competitions for the Violets, placed second in the log, eight points adrift of table-toppers, Salzburg, after 33 games.
